Data sources
The Ava business directory lists local service businesses that Ava's team has verified by phone, or that run on Ava PRO and keep their own listing, so people can find them and, where the business allows it, ask Ava to book. Ava is a digital assistant. This page says where each detail on a directory page comes from.
Verified by phone
Every business listed as verified by phone was called by Ava's team. On the call the business confirmed its name and the details it wanted listed, such as its website, phone number and services. The “Verified by phone” badge shows the date of that call.
The owner
When an owner claims their page, or the business runs on Ava PRO, what the owner types in is what the page shows. The owner's words always replace details from any other source.
Open map data: Overture Maps Places
Some street addresses, cities, phone numbers and categories come from Overture Maps Places (opens in a new tab), an open dataset published by the Overture Maps Foundation under the Community Data License Agreement – Permissive, Version 2.0 (opens in a new tab) (CDLA-Permissive 2.0). A page that shows any of these says so next to the detail, with the dataset and its licence.

The business's own website
A page's “About”, story, team and specialties are summarised in Ava's words from the business's own public website. Each part links to the page it came from and says when it was read. Prices are shown as the website lists them; confirm them when you book.
Logos and photos
A business's logo, taken from its own website, is shown only to identify that business. It does not mean the business endorses Ava, or Ava the business.
The photo at the top of a page comes from the business's own public website, for businesses Ava's team has verified by phone, or from the owner once they claim the page. “About this listing” says which. A page without one shows an illustration made for Ava, the same for every business of a kind; it is not a photo of the business.
A business can replace or remove its photo or logo at any time: claim the page, or use “Remove or correct this”. No photo on a directory page comes from Google, Yelp or Instagram.
The map picture
The small map on a page is an illustration, the same for every business, drawn from OpenStreetMap (opens in a new tab) data. The pin marks no exact spot; use “Open in Maps” for directions.

What we never use
- Content from Google Maps or Google Places: no reviews, photos, ratings, hours or addresses.
- Content from Yelp.
- Posts or photos from Instagram. A page may link to a business's Instagram profile; nothing is copied from it.
Correct or remove a page
If something on a page is wrong, or you want a page or a detail removed, email hello@ava.ai with the page's address and what to change. Every page also has a “Remove or correct this” link next to details from other sources. A person's name is removed without any proof needed.
Is this your business?
When claiming is open for a page, “About this listing” at the bottom of it shows a “Claim this page” link. Claiming lets the owner correct the details, add hours and services, add their story and team, and replace or remove the photo. Until then, email us and we will update the page.
